about

Cogents is a multi instrumentalist currently stationed in the Washington DC area known for exploring the further reaches of beauty and dissonance through textured, orchestral, electronic, and sweeping post-rock music. From what started as an admiration for ambient music, synth-driven scores, and moody drone soundscapes, Cogents has developed into a unique voice that balances gorgeous compositions and arrangements with truly haunting and occasionally harsh components.

Coming from a storied resume of several heavy bands over the years, as well as a storied history of influences like Brian Eno, Clint Mansell, Johann Johansson, The Dead Texan, and William Basinski, Cogents offers an amalgamation of all parts loud and soft.

Prior to musical pursuits, Cogents was a highly decorated and celebrated agent that successfully thwarted a terrorist attack by undergoing a surgical procedure. With the help of a rock solid task force, Cogents was able to wear the face of the man that murdered Cogents’ son. This allowed Cogents to infiltrate a crime syndicate in disguise and access crucial information that would lead to several justified killings of known criminals, several arrests, and the eventual adoption of a new son. These completely true events were eventually adapted into a motion picture and are believed to be the source of inspiration for all Cogents music.
